How Do You Foundation?
Hey loves! Today, I wanted to chat with you about one of my
absolute essentials when it comes to makeup—foundation. I know it can be a bit
tricky to figure out what works for your skin type and needs, but once you find
the perfect foundation routine, it feels like magic!
So, how do you foundation? I thought I’d share my little
process with you, in case you’re looking to level up your makeup game!
Step 1: Prepping the Skin
I can’t emphasize this enough: your foundation is only as
good as the skin it’s on. So before I apply anything, I always make sure my
skin is well-moisturized. I use a lightweight, hydrating moisturizer to keep
everything smooth. If I want to add a little glow, I’ll also apply a primer,
especially if I’m going for a dewy finish. There’s nothing worse than dry
patches showing through, right?
Step 2: Finding Your Shade
I used to have a nightmare with foundation shades, but now
I’m all about matching to my neck and chest, rather than my face. We want
everything to blend seamlessly, and trust me, blending down into your neck is a
total game-changer. When you pick a shade, go for one that seems like it
disappears into your skin. Don’t overthink it! Test it in natural light if you
can.
Step 3: The Application Method
Okay, now the fun part! Depending on my mood, I’ll switch
between a beauty blender, a brush, or my fingers. Here’s the deal:
Beauty Blender: I love the dewy finish it gives and the fact
that it blends everything out flawlessly. I apply foundation in bouncing
motions to build up the coverage without it looking too thick.
Brush: For a bit more coverage and a smoother, more
airbrushed look, I grab a dense foundation brush. I buff the product into my
skin in circular motions, and I feel like a total pro.
Fingers: Sometimes, when I’m in a rush, I’ll just use my
fingers. This gives a more natural finish, and it’s perfect for days when I
want just a bit of coverage.
I tend to apply a light layer all over my face first and
then build up areas where I need extra coverage (like around my nose or chin).
Remember, less is more!
Step 4: Setting It All In
Even if I’m not using a super heavy foundation, I always set
it with some powder. I use a translucent setting powder to keep everything in
place, especially if I’m going out or need my makeup to last all day. A little
under the eyes, on the T-zone, and anywhere that tends to get shiny does the
trick for me.
And if I’m feeling extra, a quick spritz of setting spray
locks everything in place. Trust me, it makes a huge difference!
Step 5: Touch-ups
Lastly, throughout the day, I’ll keep a little compact
powder or a blotting sheet in my bag just in case. I don’t like to overdo it,
but it helps keep me looking fresh.
So, that’s how I do foundation! It’s all about finding what
works for you, experimenting a little, and knowing when to keep it simple. If
you’re still figuring out your routine, remember that makeup is a
journey—there’s no right or wrong way to do it!
